Jean Segura singles against Yankees

Jean Segura went 1-for-4 Sunday, hitting a leadoff single in the third inning of Seattle's 10-1 loss to the Yankees.

Fantasy Implications: The first nine games of Seattle's current 12-game road trip have not been kind to Segura. Apart from the three errors he committed in the first inning of Sunday's game, the 27-year-old shortstop is only 5-for-41 at the plate, with no stolen bases and an ugly .122/.162/.171 slash line in that span. For the season however, Segura sports a fine .301 AVG and .352 OBP.  Thus fantasy GM's should be patient and continue to deploy him in their lineups.

Mitch Haniger not in lineup

Mitch Haniger is not in the lineup Monday for Seattle's contest against the Orioles.

Fantasy Implications: Haniger will get a chance to regroup on the bench after going 0-for-13 in his last three games, and only 5-for-32 (.156 AVG) in his eight games played since being activated from the disabled list on August 19. Danny Valencia will take his place in right field and bat in the six hole.

Christian Bergman summoned to Seattle

Christian Bergman was called up by the Mariners from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Fantasy Implications: Bergman takes the place of right-hander Dan Altavilla, who was optioned in a corresponding move to the Rainiers on Monday. This will be Bergman's third trek with the Mariners this season, where he has posted a 4-4 record with a 4.91 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 11 innings. Fantasy owners would be safe to take a pass on the 29-year-old right-hander.

Dan Altavilla optioned to Triple-A Tacoma

Dan Altavilla was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Fantasy Implications: Altavilla was optioned to the Rainiers after pitching a career high three innings on Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out four in the Mariners' loss to the Yankees in New York. The 24-year-old right-hander threw 45 pitches, essentially making him unavailable for Seattle's upcoming three-game series in Baltimore. In a corresponding move, the Mariners called up veteran righty Christian Bergman to take Altavilla's spot in the bullpen.
