Peter Budaj to start on Tuesday

Peter Budaj will start in net for Tampa Bay in their road game against the Devils on Tuesday.

Fantasy Implications: Budaj will be making his season debut after Andrei Vasilevskiy patrolled the crease in the Bolts' first six games to launch the 2017-18 campaign. The 35-year-old Czech filled in admirably last year in Los Angeles when Jonathan Quick missed a chunk of time with a groin injury, posting 27-20-3 record, 2.12 GAA and.917 SV%.

Craig Anderson will start on Tuesday

Craig Anderson will start in net for the Senators in their home tilt against Vancouver on Tuesday.

Fantasy Implications: Anderson is coming off of a shutout win against Calgary on Friday. He has already faced the Canucks this season, turning aside 26 of 28 shots in Ottawa's win in Vancouver last week.  The 36-year-old netminder has 2-0-2 record this campaign, and sports a brilliant 1.65 GAA and .937 SV%. He squares off against a Vancouver club that is scoring an average of 2.25 goals per game (22nd in the league). Play him with all confidence.

Frederik Andersen to start on Tuesday

Frederik Andersen will be between the pipes for the Maple Leafs in their road game against Washington on Tuesday.

Fantasy Implications: Andersen turned aside 31 of 34 shots in his last start on Saturday in Toronto's 4-3 overtime win over the Canadians. Andersen is 4-1-0 for the season, but sports an unimpressive 3.76 GAA and .880 SV%. He faces Alex Ovechkin who leads the NHL with nine goals, and a Capitals team that is scoring an average of 3.67 goals per game.

Roberto Luongo will start on Tuesday

Roberto Luongo will be in net for the Panthers in their road game against Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Fantasy Implications: Luongo has not made back-to-back starts thus far since the 2017-18 campaign has gotten underway. He and James Reimer appear to be in a season-long timeshare for netminder responsibilities. Luongo is 1-1-0 in the two appearances he has made, logging a 3.06 GAA and surrendering six goals on 63 shots (.905 S%). He played well in his last start against St. Louis, making 37 saves on 39 shots. The veteran goalie will square off against a Flyers team that is averaging an eye-opening 4.20 goals scored per game.

Mike Green scores goal on Monday

Mike Green lit the lamp on one of his six shots in Detroit's 3-2 loss to the Lightning on Monday.  He finished the night with a plus-one rating for the game.

Fantasy Implications: Green now has nine points in six games, although Monday's tally was his first goal of the season. He is plus-3 for the year and has recorded four power-play assists. The 32-year-defenseman's days as a premier rearguard are over. However, because of his inherent offensive talent and substantial minutes on the ice, Green should continue to provide value to many fantasy owners.

Owen Tippett to make his NHL debut on Tuesday

Owen Tippett will make his NHL debut for the Panthers' road game against Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Fantasy Implications: Tippett was selected 10th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft by Florida because of his immense offensive potential. Last year, the 18-year-old right wing registered 75 points (44 goals, 31 assists) in 60 games with the OHL's Mississauga Steelheads. He is raw and needs polishing, and if not already selected, should be on the radar of fantasy owners in dynasty and keeper leagues. Tippett will be replacing Connor Brickley, and will skate on Florida's third line along with Jamie McGinn and Jared McCann.

Justin Abdelkader converts penalty shot

Justin Abdelkader scored a goal on a penalty shot, and added an assist in Detroit's 3-2 loss against the Lightning at Little Caesars Arena on Monday. He also registered two PIMs and finished the evening with a plus-one rating.

Fantasy Implications: Abdelkader was the first Red Wing to score on a penalty shot since Valtteri Filppula converted on December 15, 2017.  The 30-year-old veteran now has four points (two goals, two assists), four PIMs and a plus-two rating through six games. In his nine year career, Abdelkader has never exceeded 44 points, and adds value only to owners in deep leagues, or as an emergency forward.

Jimmy Howard attributed with loss

Jimmy Howard surrendered three goals on 26 shots to take the loss in the Red Wing's 3-2 defeat to Tampa Bay on Monday.

Fantasy Implications: Howard was snakebit twice by Nikita Kucherov, one on a power-play goal on a wicked wrist-shot from the right circle, the other when Kucherov easily tapped in a puck lying in the crease between Howard's five-hole. Howard also conceded a shorthanded goal to Tyler Johnson, who scored on a breakaway after he stole the puck in his own zone. Howard's record now falls to 3-1-0, but he still maintains an excellent 1.97 GAA and .947 SV%. Howard may be in a timeshare with Petr Mrazek, decreasing his value for owners in weekly pools.
