James Reimer saddled with loss

James Reimer surrendered four goals on 33 shots in the Panthers' 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: Reimer has now allowed eight goals on 63 shots (.873 SV%) with a 4.07 GAA in the two games he has started this season. Despite the poor numbers, Reimer played fairly well tonight against the Penguins, but was hung out to dry on a pair of vintage Sydney Crosby goals (one on the power-play), and on a Cats' turnover in their own zone that resulted in a Greg McKegg shorthanded goal. Reimer is in a timeshare with Roberto Luongo, and is one of the more reliable backup goalies in the game.

James Reimer to start for Panthers

James Reimer will start in net for the Panthers' road game against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: Earlier today it was reported that Roberto Luongo would start. However, it was Reimer that led the Cats onto the ice and will start instead.  Reimer won in his only appearance of the season, stopping 26 of 30 Tampa Bay shots last Saturday.

Andrei Vasilevskiy to start on Saturday

Andrei Vasilevskiy will be between the pipes for the Lightning in their home game against St. Louis on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: In four starts to begin the season, Vasilevskiy has recorded a 3-1-0 record. He has been incredibly busy, stopping 135 shots on 150 attempts (.900 SV%) in that span for a 3.74 GAA. The 23-year-old Russian will face a Blues team that is 4-1-0 and is averaging 3.20 goals for per game.

Roberto Luongo is expected to start on Saturday

Roberto Luongo is expected to patrol the crease for the Panthers in their road game against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: Luongo was brilliant, turning aside 37 of 39 shots against the Blues on Thursday. In his two starts this season, the veteran goalie is 1-1-0 with a 3.06 GAA and .905 SV%. He squares off against the Penguins who are averaging 3.20 goals for per game.

Frederik Andersen between the pipes on Saturday

Frederik Andersen will start in net for the Maple Leafs' road game against Montreal at Bell Centre on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: Andersen is 3-1-0 in his four starts to begin the season, thanks to Toronto's potent offense. In that span, the 28-year-old netminder has been shaky, registering an inferior 3.97 GAA and .871 SV%. Fortunately, he faces an offensively challenged Canadians team that has scored only five goals through five games. Of note, Toronto is 0-9-5 against Montreal since a win at Air Canada Centre on January 18, 2014.

Corey Crawford in net on Saturday

Corey Crawford will patrol the crease for the Blackhawks in their home contest against Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: Crawford was pinned with his first loss of the season, surrendering three goals on 32 shots to the Wild on Thursday. He has played well, however, sporting a 3-1-0 record with a 1.50 GAA and .956 SV%. The 32-year-old squares off against the Predators, who are averaging 3.25 goals for per game.

Gustav Nyquist pots two goals

Gustav Nyquist tallied two goals and an assist in Detroit's 6-3 win over the Golden Knights on Friday. He finished the night at plus-one.

Fantasy Implications: Nyquist recorded his first points of the season, having been held off the scorecard in his first four games this season. The 28-year-old right wing has seen his shooting percentage and goal production decline annually since his breakout 2013-14 season, an obvious frustration to his fantasy owners. If Nyquist plays a more decisive game, as he did last season when Thomas Vanek was traded to Florida, he is capable of a 50-plus season.

Henrik Zetterberg records four points

Henrik Zetterberg scored a goal and dished out three assists in the Red Wings 6-3 win against Vegas on Friday. He finished the night with a team leading plus-four rating.

Fantasy Implications: Zetterberg has now compiled seven points (three goals, two assists) through his first five games this season. The 37-year-old captain refuses to slow down, and is clearly the stalwart of the Red Wings team. Last season he potted 17 goals and tallied 51 assists for a team-high 68 points, 20 more than Gustav Nyquist who was second. He also continues be extremely durable, playing in all 82 games the past two seasons. Zetterberg remains a reliable and safe fantasy option.

Mike Condon to start on Saturday

Mike Condon will be in net for the Senators in their road game against Edmonton on Saturday.

Fantasy Implications: Condon will be making his season debut a dangerous Oilers team led by Connor McDavid that has started the year with a disappointing 1-2-0 record, averaging only 2.33 goals for per game.  The 27-year-old goalie compiled an an admirable 19-14-6 record with a 2.50 GAA and .914 SV% last season while filling in for Craig Anderson who missed a chunk of time to care for his ailing wife.

Petr Mrazek credited with win

Petr Mrazek turned aside 24 of 27 shots to earn the win in Detroit's 6-3 victory over the Golden Knights on Friday.

Fantasy Implications: Mrazek is now 1-1-0 in the two games he has started this campaign with a 3.08 GAA, surrendering six goals on 59 shots (.898 SV%). Detroit actually trailed 3-2 after two periods, but the team responded with four unanswered goals, and Mrazek making stops on the Golden Knights' six shots on goal in the final stanza. It appears that Mrazek will be taking a backseat to Jimmy Howard as the Red Wings' No. 1 netminder, and it is anyone's guess how playing time will be divided between the pair.

Cody Ceci registers two points

Cody Ceci scored a goal and was credited with a rare power-play assist in Ottawa's 6-0 win over Calgary on Friday. He also blocked four shots and finished the night at plus-one.

Fantasy Implications: Ceci was able to record an assist during his total of eight seconds of power-play time on ice, feeding a beautiful pass to Mike Hoffman that led to a Hoffman goal. Last year, the 23-year-old defenseman tallied only 17 points (two goals, 15 assists). Through four games of the 2017-18 campaign, he already has two goals, an assist, three hits and 10 blocked shots. His lack of power-play time, however, limits his offensive potential. Ceci is best used in fantasy leagues that count hits and blocked shots, where last year he registered 111 and 159 respectively.
