Yovani Gallardo allowed one run on five hits and two walks while
striking out two through 5.2 innings Saturday to earn his fifth win of
the season against New York.
Fantasy Impact: Gallardo (5-7) making his second
start since being reinserted from the bullpen into the starting
rotation, danced in and out of trouble, leaving a couple of base runners
in the fifth and sixth innings before being pulled in favor of reliever
Tony Zych. His 5.34 ERA and 1.47 WHIP make him a risky play in fantasy
lineups. Gallardo's next start is scheduled for Thursday against the
Royals

Aaron Altherr is in starting lineup
Aaron Altherr is in the starting lineup batting second for Saturday's game against the Braves.
Fantasy implications: Altherr was slashing .370/.452/.704 in 10 July games prior to landing on the 10-day DL with a strained hamstring. After being activated on July 26, the right-fielder has continued to yield a hot bat going 4-for-8 with two home runs, two RBIs and one walk in two games. He should see more playing time now that Howie Kendrick was traded to the Washington.

Jarrod Dyson is in the starting lineup

Fantasy Impact: Dyson missed the last four games because of a jammed toe he sustained last weekend when crashing into the outfield wall. The center fielder will bat eighth in the series opener. Dyson has been mired in a deep slump since the All Star break, slashing .036/.069/.036 while collecting only one hit in his last 28 plate appearances in 9 games. Perhaps the time off will have been enough to clear his head.

Taylor Motter optioned by Mariners to Triple-A Tacoma
Taylor Motter has been optioned by Seattle to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. In a corresponding move, the Mariners could add Danny Espinosa, who agreed to a Major League contract with the team on Sunday, to the active roster.
Motter, a 27 year-old infielder, has cooled off considerably, hitting .180 with two home runs and 10 RBI's in his past 52 games. Motter's demotion was sealed when he made a costly base-running error in Sunday's game against the Yankees. He was picked off first base when he came on as a pinch runner in the bottom of the ninth with no outs, and the Mariners trailing by two runs.

Yovani Gallardo pitches five innings in a no-decision
Yovani Gallardo (4-7) allowed three earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters through five innings during Seattle's loss to New York on Sunday. He did not factor into the decision.
Fantasy Implications: Gallardo gave up the three runs on three solo homers, a lead off blast by Brett Gardner in the first inning, and two by Didi Gregorius in the second and fourth. Despite getting in and out of trouble all game, he was in line for the win. Unfortunately the bullpen coughed up the lead in the next inning. Gallardo's next start is scheduled to be against the Mets next weekend.

Jarred Dyson is Out of the Lineup

Fantasy Impact: The veteran outfielder is just 1-for-24 (.042 AVG) in the past seven games. With left-hander CC Sabathia pitching for New York, it was an easy decision to send Dyson to the bench for tonight's game. Guillermo Heredia will take his place in center field.

David Phelps Added to Mariners Active Roster
The Mariners added David Phelps to their active Major League roster
Friday. To make room for Phelps, the Mariners optioned Max Povse to
Triple-A Tacoma. (Source: MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact: The right-hander was acquired yesterday in a trade that sent four minor league prospects to the Marlins. Phelps will be in uniform and available to pitch in tonight's game against the Yankees.
