Thyago Vieira promoted to Majors

Thyago Vieira was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma Monday and added to Mariners 25-man active roster prior to their series with Baltimore at Safeco Field.

Fantasy Implications: Vieira has routinely hit 100 mph on the radar gun this year during stints with both Double-A Arkansas and the Raniers. The 24-year-old right-handed flame-thrower will now become the fourth Brazilian-born player in Major League history. He is expected to initially be used in low-leverage situations. In seven appearances with Tacoma, after being promoted from Double-A Arkansas on July 19, he compiled a 3.18 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB, while earning two saves. In a corresponding move, Seattle optioned Christian Bergman to Tacoma.
