Dan Altavilla recalled from Triple-A

Dan Altavilla was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Fantasy Implications: The Mariners recalled Altavilla to take the spot of Tony Zych who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right-elbow flexor bundle strain. Altavilla has been on the shuttle between Seattle and Tacoma a number of times this year. He has not been with the big club since being optioned to Tacoma on July 3. Pitching this year in the majors, the 24-year-old right-hander has posted a 1-1 record with an unpalatable 5.46 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with two holds and four blown saves over 29.2 innings of relief. Unless he is able to reign in his lack of control (4.2 BB/9), his ERA is likely to remain high. Altavilla will most likely be sent back down to Tacoma when David Phelps is ready to return from the disabled list which is expected in the next few days.
