Tony Zych experienced elbow pain after throwing a bullpen session on Saturday.
Fantasy Implications: Zych was placed on the 10-day disabled list on August 22 with a right elbow flexor bundle strain. Following a bullpen session Saturday, the 27-year-old reliever felt some soreness, but an MRI exam revealed no structural damage. Zych will attempt another session this weekend. According to manager Scott Servais, "He'll throw another bullpen Saturday. The bullpen he
threw the other day was really good, but
something didn't feel quite right in there. So he got some pictures, and
that was clear, so he should be good to go once he gets it ramped up
again." The Mariners are hoping Zych can return for the last few weeks of the season if this weekend's pitching program goes well. He has been a vital part of the Mariners' bullpen with a 6-3 record, 2.66 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 45 appearances over 40 2/3 innings.
