Edwin Diaz (3-5) worked around a hit and a walk to pitch a scoreless ninth inning in Seattle's 7-6 victory over the Athletics Saturday evening. He also struck out two.
Fantasy Implications: Diaz was summoned in the ninth inning to protect a 6-6 tie. After doing his job, the Mariners scored in the bottom of the frame when Jean Segura came home on a wild pitch, thereby giving Seattle the victory and Diaz the win. The 23-year-old righty has not allowed a run in his last five appearances, amassing four saves and a win in that span. He has saves in 19 of his 20 chances since July, and should be inserted into all fantasy lineups with confidence.
