Yovani Gallardo was officially removed from the starting rotation on Tuesday and will instead be used in the bullpen.
Fantasy Implications: Gallardo's poor performance as a starter has finally driven him from the rotation to a role in the bullpen. The veteran right-hander was actually effective when used in long- relief earlier in the year, recording a 1-0 record in four appearances, while surrendering only one run on five hits over 11 1/3 innings. His exemplary slash line of .132/.233/.237 allowed in relief was demonstrably better than his regrettable .284/.359/.498 relinquished to opposing batters as a starter. Mike Leake, who was supposed to start on Wednesday, will have his start pushed to Friday against the Angels in place of Gallardo. Andrew Moore will start on Wednesday against the Astros.
