Miguel Gonzalez (5-10) was totally ineffective Thursday night, suffering the loss in the White Sox 9-5 defeat to Boston. The 33-year-old starter lasted only 1.2 innings surrendering seven runs (all earned) on seven hits, while striking out none and walking none.
Fantasy implications: Gonzalez was pounded continually and often by the Red Sox. Four of Boston's hits were for extra-bases, including a pair of two-run homers hit by Rafael Devers and Mookie Betts. His last seven starts tell how feckless the Gonzalez has been lately. During this time, the right-hander has compiled a 1-5 record, while recording an abysmal 6.63 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, 4.4 K/9, 4.2 BB/9, and 1.7 HR/9. It would be wise to keep him out of fantasy lineups when he is next scheduled to pitch next Wednesday against the league-best Houston offense in Chicago .
