Edwin Diaz worked around a leadoff single in the ninth inning to pick up his 28th save of the season in Seattle's 6-5 win over the Braves on Monday. He walked none and stuck out none.
Fantasy Implications: After his debacle against Baltimore Wednesday, where he threw only 16 of 37 pitches for strikes, walking the first three batters, and then plunking two, Diaz has bounced back, earning two saves in as many appearances. Monday, the 23-year-old righty retired the side needing only five pitches, all which were thrown for strikes. Following a leadoff single to Ender Inciarte, Brandon Phillips flew out to right, Inciarte was then thrown out trying to steal second base, and Freddie Freeman grounded out to first base to end the game. Though his 3.67 ERA is unattractive, Diaz' 12.0 K/9 and 1.22 WHIP should appeal to many fantasy owners.
