Ariel Miranda (8-7) lasted only 1 2/3 innings surrendering four runs on six hits and three walks, and was credited with the loss in Seattle's defeat to the Rangers on Monday. He struck out none.
Fantasy Implications: An absolute stinker for Miranda and his fantasy owners. The 27-year-old left-hander threw a whopping 50 pitches in less than two innings, in which only 24 were for strikes. It appears that with each subsequent start Miranda goes from bad to worse. Since the beginning of July, he has spun only two quality starts in 12 appearances. Tonight's poor performance bumped Miranda's ERA from 4.72 to 4.90 for the year. Only GM's that can stomach extreme derring-do should consider inserting Miranda into their lineups at this crucial time of the fantasy campaign. His next scheduled start is Saturday against the Astros in Houston.
