Justin Smoak blasted a two-run shot off of Mike Pelfrey that just cleared the right center field wall in the Blue Jay's 8-4 win over Texas Tuesday night. The 30-year-old first baseman also hit a single.
Fantasy implications: Smoak, an eight-year veteran who entered the Majors as a highly touted prospect, but up to this year had been a major bust, has rewarded handsomely those fantasy owners who picked him up as a flyer. In addition to hitting his team-leading 31st home run, he continues his breakout season slashing .302/.379/.601 while collecting 73 RBIs. Continue to insert him into fantasy lineups, as he shows no signs of slowing down.
