Fantasy Implications: Ben Gamel continues to struggle mightily during his August swoon. In 10 games he has played since August 1, he has registered a dreadful .128/.150/.154 slash line. He is 5-39 in that span, with one double being his only extra-base hit. Guillermo Heredia is slated to take his place in the lineup on Sunday. Unless the 25-year-old outfielder gets back on track shortly, he is likely to see his playing time dissipate, especially when Mitch Haniger, who is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, is reactivated.

Erasmo Ramirez pitches six strong innings
Erasmo Ramirez pitched well Saturday night giving up one unearned-run on three hits, with one walk and one strike out over six complete innings in Seattle's loss to the Angels. He did not factor in the decision.
Fantasy Implications: Ramirez left Saturday's contest with a 3-1 lead, and was in line to pick up his first win in a Mariner uniform. However, the Seattle bullpen imploded, leaving the 27-year-old right-hander with a no-decision. Since coming over to the the Mariners in a late July trade with Tampa Bay, Ramirez has pitched in three games compiling an 0-1 record with 4.40 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 14.1 innings. His pedestrian 6.78 K/9 and 1.46 HR/9 should restrict his use to fantasy managers of AL-only and deep leagues.

Kyle Seager went 2-4 on Saturday including a solo blast into the center field seats and an RBI single.

However, the 29-year-old third baseman has still been productive in that stretch, hitting four home runs, with seven RBIs, eight runs scored, and one stolen base. He continues to be a mainstay in the five-hole of the Mariner's lineup, and should also be a mainstay in fantasy lineups of all settings.

Andrew Albers was acquired by the Mariners in a cash transaction with Atlanta on Friday. He was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma.
Fantasy Implications: The 31-year-old left-handed journeyman was obtained to help bolster Seattle's rotation after the club placed James Paxton on the disabled list. Albers has been dominant at Triple-A Gwinnett posting a 12-3 record with a 2.61 ERA, 8.58 K/9, 1.42 BB/9 and 0.45 HR/9. He has pitched in 17 Major League games, including 12 starts over the past three years, with Minnesota and Toronto where he compiled a 2-5 record with a 4.41 ERA. His fastball barely reaches the upper 80's, and thus will he is not likely to benefit fantasy managers in need of pitching help.

Andrew Moore optioned to Triple-A Tacoma
Andrew Moore was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma Saturday to make room for right-handed pitcher Christian Bergman.
Fantasy Implications: Moore, who was called-up from Tacoma on Friday, lasted only one day on Seattle's 25-man roster in his second stint this year with the Mariners. The 23-year-old right-hander made a relief appearance on Friday night against the Angels, and was credited with a blown save, giving up four runs (all earned) on six hits, walking one and striking out one. The rookie will try to hone his skills for the time being in Tacoma. Plans for his next call up are unknown.

In a corresponding move, the Mariners optioned Andrew Moore back down to Tacoma. Bergman (4-4) struggled in a starting role with the Mariners earlier this year, posting a 5.44 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 5.8 K/9, 2.7BB/9 and 2.1 HR/9 over 46.1 innings. Fantasy owners would be better served looking elsewhere for immediate pitching help.

The 25-year-old left-hander has been unable to pitch beyond the fifth inning in either, chalking up a dismal 6.48 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, 5.4 K/9 and 2.2 HR/9. With his inability to miss bats (he induced just four swinging strikes in 64 pitches Friday), he is best left off all fantasy rosters at this time.
