Edwin Diaz worked around a single and a walk in a scoreless tenth inning Tuesday to pick up his 24th save of the season. He also stuck out one.
Fantasy implications: Diaz has now saved 12 games in his last 14 appearances. With this outing, the elite closer has dropped his ERA to 2.96, the first time it has been under three since April 9. He threw 14 of his 24 pitches for strikes. He is paying dividends to those who were patient with him after his woeful start of the season. Diaz should be in fantasy lineups of all settings.

Ariel Miranda labors in no-decision
Ariel Miranda, in a no-decision, yielded six earned runs on five hits and two walks in five complete innings, in Seattle's come from behind win against Oakland Tuesday night. He also struck out six.
Fantasy Implications: Miranda's nemesis continues to be the long ball, which is responsible for his season's 4.65 ERA. The 27-year-old lefty coughed up two souvenirs into the outfield bleachers, a three-run homer to Khris Davis in the first inning, and a solo shot in the fifth frame to Ryon Healy. Miranda has now given up a dreadful 19 HR in his last 64.1 innings pitched (2.67 HR/9). He does have a respectable 1.16 WHIP for the year. Miranda's next projected start is Sunday at Safeco Field against the Angels.

David Phelps placed on 10-day DL
David Phelps was placed on the 10-day disabled Tuesday after being diagnosed with an impingement in his right elbow. The right-handed reliever is expected to miss approximately two-to-three weeks.
Fantasy Implications: The move allowed the Mariners to clear space on the 25-man roster for the recently acquired Yonder Alonso, who will start against his former team Tuesday night in Oakland. Phelps was pitching well since coming over to Seattle in a recent trade with the Marlins. In 7.0 innings he recorded a 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a dazzling 14.1/1.3 K/BB.

Felix Hernandez to miss three-to-four weeks
Felix Hernandez is expected to miss three-to-four weeks according to Mariners' officials. A doctor's examination on Monday confirms that the 31-year-old right-hander is suffering bursitis in his right shoulder, the same ailment that forced him to miss approximately two months of action earlier this year.
Fantasy Implications: Hernandez' injury comes at an inopportune time for Seattle, and leaves a void in the team's relatively thin starting pitching staff. It is expected that Marco Gonzalez and Erasmo Ramirez will fill in until Hernandez is able to return. King Felix was pitching suitably as of late. In his last five games he has compiled a 3.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 9.6/3.1 K/BB.

Erasmo Ramirz takes loss on Sunday
Erasmo Ramirez (4-4) had a difficult time fooling the Royals lineup in his loss to Kansas City in the second half of Sunday's twin billing. In his five innings of work, he surrendered five earned runs on eight hits, and recorded two strikeouts and zero walks.
Fantasy Implications: Although he pounded the strike zone (50 of 65 pitches for strikes) and allowed no free-passes, Ramirez was way too hittable. He served up three long balls, including two solo shots to Whit Merrifield and Eric Hosmer, and a three-run blast to Melky Cabrera. In his two starts since coming over to Seattle from Tampa Bay on July 28, the 27-year-old right-hander has garnered a 7.56 ERA,1.56 WHIP, and an odious 5.4 HR/9 over 8.1 innings. His next scheduled start is Saturday against the Angels in Safeco Field. Ramirez is best suited for the bullpen, where in 2017 he is allowing a respectable .187/.232/.311 slash line.

David Phelps leaves game with elbow pain
David Phelps was forced to leave Sunday's first game of a double header when he felt pain in his right elbow after retiring the only batter he faced in Seattle's 8-7 win over the Royals.
Fantasy implications: Phelps, who was acquired in a July 20 trade with Miami for three prospects, will fly back to Seattle for an MRI on the elbow. He exited the game after throwing seven pitches to Drew Butera, getting him to fly out to center field on a 97 mph fastball. The Mariners reliever claims his arm has not felt right in his last few outings, and has had difficulty getting loose. He did add that he did not feel anything pop. Manager Scott Servais said Phelps could be headed for a stint on the disabled list, depending on the doctors' evaluation. Phelps has made seven appearances since coming over to Seattle, posting a 2.57 ERA in seven innings.

Edwin Diaz records another save
Edwin Diaz notched his 23rd save of the season Sunday in the Mariners' win against Kansas City in the first game of a twin bill. He pitched a scoreless ninth frame allowing no runs and no hits, while striking out one and walking one.
The young fireballer continues his excellent second half of the season. He has recorded 10 saves in his last 12 appearances, and has just two blown saves since May 2. The Mariners' indubitable closer should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
